***** Erinnert musikalisch spontan an Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder", welches mich an Lady GaGa's "Do What U Want" erinnerte... ist jetzt aber nichts schlechtes, denn ich finde beide Songs sehr stark. Aber nun zum eigentlichen Song...

"Jealous" ist eine sehr starke neue Single vom Jüngsten der Jonas Brothers. Mit der richtigen Promo könnte er damit wirklich erfolgreich werden. 4+*

edit: Mittlerweile klar 5* meinerseits. Verdienter Top10-Hit in den US Hot100. Last edited: 22.11.2014 21:20
***** Totally agree with JimJim, this was such an unexpected release. It sort of reminds me of when Justin Timberlake first started releasing solo material. Really great first single and from the previews I've heard of his new album, everything else sounds really great as well.
** "I've got my eyes on you, you're everything that I see I want your hot love and emotion, endlessly"

Wait, wait, hold on, that's not right, this song goes like this

"Just let my love, just let my love adorn you, don't you know, don't you know that I adore you?"

Nope, not right either, must say he's got good taste though, which unfortunately doesn't come through in the highly emotionally manipulative lyrics, which are abysmal.

"It's my right to be hellish, I still get jealous", ugh. ***** Surprisingly decent, good on him for breaking out and making something decent that's getting played on radio! I like this quite a bit, and when listening to this, it's easy to forget that I'm listening to a former JoBro.
** Unfortunately, one bad line can ruin a song. And oh boy, nasty #G*merg*te-esque levels of respect for women, that is the last thing I want to hear anywhere.

Fortunately, Miguel exists, so I have no use for this song and don't particularly feel concerned that it's tainted. **** I don't mind this either way actually. Every time I hear it though, the part that I take to be the pre-chorus is a little cringeworthy. Besides that there's not much that makes this anything less than decent. 3.5
****** well I have 5% battery and iPhones suck so it'll last about 5 minutes, let's see if I can get this done in time.

There is a bizarre reason I love this song as much as I do. About the time I was getting into this, I was working opening shifts at work and working about 10 hours per day. By the time I had finished, all I wanted to do was go home and sleep, but I had to endure (at this time) a 1.5 hour journey across two trains. For whatever reason, the lazy ticking beat in the background in the chorus just fit perfectly with my mood as I sat silently on the train in those days and propelled it all the way to stardom on my chart, knocking off the untouchable Take Me To Church. Funnily, once these working hours stopped, so did this song's momentum on my chart. Anyway...
aside from that, I love Nick's vocals on the entire track, I love that he doesn't overdo the falsetto, only using is during the hook, and what a hook it is. I love the production reminiscent of DWUW/HOWGH although I feel it puts a good twist on it (though I can't articulate well on what twist this is). All in all, this was possibly the best comeback single of the 2010s, I doubt he could ever do anything as good as this again, though it really was a fluke that it just happened to come along at the right time for it to fall in to place in my heart.
** Machismo really is a turn off for me. This takes masculinity and combines it with jealousy to the point where it reminds me of so many toxic relationships I've seen. I get that jealousy is a normal emotion, but this song takes it way too far. The chorus in particular is where it gets rather rotten. It's really hard to ignore. It's mostly solid apart from that, but I can't get past the whole lyrical theme. I'm not as sick of it anymore at least. But I'd take pretty much any other artist making this type of music over this.
