Oh I was certainly skeptical of this. It takes a lot of convincing for me to believe that this song by someone I'd never heard of really is among the best of the year. To an extent, I still don't see it, but after much persistence I grew to love it. Just about every component of the song is a hook but (or possibly because of this) the song still lacks a proper chorus hook. That doesn't matter though, because dun dun DUN dun, dun dun DUN dun, dun dun DUN dun; the whole thing just wins me over.<br><br>My 60th favourite song of 2012.

I heard this about a billion times six months back when someone seemed to be trying to make it a big hit, but couldn't remember a single moment of the song. Having just listened to it, it's still not overly special and her voice does bug me, but there are decent aspects to it. |

Leider habe ich diesen Tipp von Miraculi damals übersehen (Schande über mein Haupt) - aber 2015 war Grimes dann auch für mich unumgänglich, denn mit ihrem neuen Album "Art Angels" sorgt sie nicht nur bei mir für Furore. Aber auch der Vorgänger "Visions" begeistert mich rückwirkend hellauf. Gerade der hier dargebotene Electro-Pop, in den man sich erst mal behutsam reinhören muss, strahlt eine ganz eigene, fesselnde Stimmung aus, welche durch das dazugehörige Video noch verstärkt wird. Ich mag besonders auch den dunklen Beat, der um 2:30 herum einsetzt. Wohl einer der besten Songs, die ich 2012 nicht gehört habe ;) |
