**** This having such instant success here (a top 20 placing in it's first week!) makes me so happy. I absolutely love everything about this: the raw emotion of it all with lyrics such as "I love you so much that I hate you. Right now, its so hard to blame you cause youre so damn beautiful, the dark and hard-hitting synths, Luke's falsetto moments, the bass, the brooding mood of it , the drums, etc.; every little part of it just adds up to one damn good pop song. It has a really pulsating rhythm, and would not be out of place on a club playlist.

This song is an accurate insight into the conflicting emotions those involved in toxic relationships face, and manages to balance seeing the person in question in both a positive and negative light. Anyone whose been in a similar situation will certainly understand the sentiments expressed in this track.

The result is still quite funky, but it's a much darker direction than the material on their last album. It's telling that Ryan Tedder co-wrote this, as it's one of 5 Seconds of Summer's best outputs in terms of lyricism. (Charlie Puth also co-wrote this, but let's not talk about that :P)

Having said all that, it's certainly not perfect. The production and the vocals together can be a bit much at times, and bring the song down from being 5*. It's also a bit short for my liking. But, I find it to be up there as one of 5SOS's best songs (in my humble opinion). I give it a solid 4.5* |
