The eclectic intro and breakdown is good, and so is the second 'chorus'.

Pretty good. After hearing this a bit I decided that it is pretty good and is Skrillex's best. The vocals are annoying though. I like the dubstep parts without vocals very much so.

Starker DubStep-Track, mit den fürs Genre typischen tiefen Bässen und Tempi-Wechseln und mit einem aufsehenerregenden, dazu passenden Video (Story: "Der Pädophile, das Mädchen und der Dämon" ..!?) - MIT Vocals wäre mir dieses Instrumental aber noch lieber ...
Kürzlich sagte übrigens irgendein mir unbekannter deutscher Musiker (Typ: "Anspruchs-Hip-Hopper") darüber in einem Interview:
"Ich stand da so in diesem Club, hab mir das angeguckt und dann kam Skrillex, Alter.
Dieses "First Of The Year"-Ding mit einem Drop, der echt weh tut. Und dann springt eine ganze Reihe von 13-, 14-jähriger Mädels, die auf dem Boden saßen und schon so dicht waren, auf und schreit so "Yeeeaah!". Und ich dachte mir nur, wie verrückt es eigentlich ist, dass der krasseste Baustellenlärm der Welt jetzt die kleinen Mädels fasziniert. Das ist halt der Punkt, es ist im Großen und Ganzen eben Großraumtechno. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Das ist technisch immer gut gemacht, aber künstlerisch ist es halt nix."
Ist natürlich Quatsch - als ob Musik es sich immer aussuchen könnte, wo sie funktioniert und welche Zielgruppe sie anspricht ...

I thought I'd reviewed this one already, but anyway...
I've like a few of his others song (Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, Bangarang etc.), but this one is too annoying.
The lead-in to the song sounds promising, but is then ruined by the singing (if you can call it that), and the chorus is bad. If you took out the singing and changed the chorus to something less ridiculous (not that I should expect that, it's Skrillex after all), this would actually be a really good song.
P.S. The video clip is as freaky as shit. |
