*****

Highlights:
"Lisztomania"
"Love Like a Sunset"
"Rome"

Schnitt 4,8. Ein sehr tolles, schönes Album, mit zwei klitzekleinen Enttäuschungen gen Ende "Girlfriend" und "Countdown", dafür aber mit dem grandiosen "Love Like A Sunset Pt. I & II" sowie die eingängigen "1901" und "Rome". Alles in allem gelungen.

Da war die Wirkung bei "It's Never Been Like That" doch etwas heftiger. 4.5

A pretty good album. It doesn't have any outstanding flaws, although it does lack an 'it' factor.
****
Solid album with some quite cool moments. Lisztomania and 1901 are quite strong, and Lasso is probably the next best.

Even though I generally like their music, listening to Phoenix is sometimes a bit of a chore. Many of their songs never seem to catch on with me, which means every time I hear them it's like I'm listening to a song I've never heard before. I've always found that 'Lisztomania' and '1901' epitomise this. I haven't scrobbled them too much, but I hear them in so many other places and all I can manage to remember with any clarity is 'Lisztomania''s chorus and then the neat synth line of '1901'. It's borderline ridiculous. Over time this issue has been alleviated somewhat due to me becoming specifically more familiar with Phoenix, but getting back to the main issue at hand, I have to put even more effort in than usual = chore. All this being said, I can't criticise them too much; this is a decent release with nothing I wouldn't want to hear again. It's just that I may have to if I want to remember anything about them. 3.75
