Musically, I love this song. However, I don't like the lyrics nearly as much. It's not the lyrical content that brings it down, but how direct it is. I love plenty of songs that tackle the same kinds of issues, but many other songs manage to do that in a more subtle or discrete manner, which is something I admire. On the other hand, this song is basically spelling it out, if you look at the chorus in particular. It's still a five for me since lyrics are very, very low on my list of priorities in pop songs, but I think it could have been done better, certainly. |
